The Ballet performance

YUKI ONNA & CARNIVAL OF THE ANIMALS

Minami Circle April 10th Meeting

A Ballet Performance by Austrian Ballet Company at Kanack Hall

Enchanting, Captivating, Truly fascinating.... I search for more synonyms to describe the two performances by the ABC ballet company at the Minami Circle April meeting.

Short and sweet but absolutely fascinating was the first performance named the Carnival of Animals. The dancers so perfectly imitated the animals and birds, the costume and music added more zest to this ballet.

The second performance, a Japanese folk tale -Yuki Onna ? The Snow Woman, was truly outstanding. The tragic romantic tale of an English teacher and Snow woman moved all of us. I am sure some tears flowed down in the audience in the last scene!

Coupled with outstanding choreography, the rhythm of the ballet dancers and Japanese folk music, Yuki Onna was able to fascinate the entire audience in a jam packed hall. I truly enjoyed the scene in busy Shibuya! Rio Mitani’s creative choreography was able to shift us quickly from Shibuya to a Japanese village, enchanting us with Japanese folk music and children’s songs.

I am sure many of us will remember this ballet as one of the most memorable moments of our stay in Japan.

We were indeed lucky to see this original production.

Dear Ladies,

Thank you for coming to the ballet performance put on by the Austrian Ballet Company of Tokyo last Friday, April 10th. We hope you enjoyed the performance! It was a lovely presentation with outstanding dancing and beautiful costumes and choreography.

We were fortunate to fill all the seats at Kannack Hall to share the beauty with so many guests. Thank you to all of you who helped to inform others and for bringing your friends and family. We hope they enjoyed the show and the mingling with friends afterward too.

Warm regards to all
Ladies in charge of April Ballet Performance Meeting
